2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you directly provide to us when you use our Service:

• Account Information: When you sign up or log in, we collect your email address. If you choose to log in with Google OAuth, we receive your basic profile info (email and display name) as authorized by your Google account settings.
• Bookmarks & Saved Content: URLs, links, platform types (e.g. YouTube, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), tags, learning goals, notes, and completion statuses you intentionally save or clip to your ihatebookmarks dashboard.
• Payment & Billing Data: Payments are securely processed through our Merchant of Record and payment partners, Dodo Payments and PayPal. ihatebookmarks does not store full credit card numbers or banking credentials on our servers.
• Device & Usage Data: Basic technical logs such as IP address, browser type, operating system, and interaction timestamps required to keep the Service reliable and defend against abuse.

3. Chrome Extension & Browser Permissions

Our browser extension (ihatebookmarks Extension) complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy:

• Active Tab & URL Saving: The extension only accesses the URL and title of the specific tab you choose to save when you click the clip button or trigger the keyboard shortcut (Alt+D).
• No Continuous Tracking: The extension does not log, monitor, or track your general browsing history or monitor other open tabs.
• No Ad Injection: We do not inject advertisements, modify third-party webpage content, or monetize your search traffic.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to operate and improve the Service:

• To provide, sync, and maintain your bookmark collections across devices.
• To power your 5-minute review sessions, search, and goal-tracking features.
• To manage your account, authenticate your login sessions, and prevent fraud.
• To process subscription billing and receipts via Dodo Payments and PayPal.
• To provide customer support and respond to inquiries.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We only share data with reputable infrastructure providers that assist in delivering our services under strict confidentiality and security terms:

• Supabase: Cloud database (PostgreSQL) and authentication infrastructure with row-level security.
• Dodo Payments & PayPal: PCI-DSS compliant payment processing and subscription billing.
• Vercel: Global serverless cloud hosting and content delivery network.

We DO NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers, ad networks, or marketing companies.

6. Data Retention and Your Rights

You maintain full control over your data at all times:

• Data Export: You can export all your saved bookmarks, links, and tags as a structured JSON file at any time from your dashboard in 1 click.
• Account & Data Deletion: You can request permanent deletion of your account and all associated bookmarks by contacting support@ihatebookmarks.com. Upon request, your data will be permanently wiped from our databases within 30 days.
• GDPR (European Users) & CCPA (California Residents): You have the right to access, rectify, restrict processing of, or delete your personal data. We honor all statutory privacy rights globally.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard organizational and technical safeguards, including HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit, strict database row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own records, and regular security reviews.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our legal obligations or Service enhancements. The “Last Updated” date at the top will always indicate the latest revision.
